Job Title: Manufacturing Process Engineer
Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer will lead the design, integration, and optimization of robotic and vision-based automation systems in a production environment. This role requires technical expertise in Fanuc robotics, machine vision platforms such as Cognex, Matrox, and Keyence, as well as industrial automation. Experience working with Glass Cells in automotive assembly environments is essential. The engineer will be responsible for full-cycle project execution—from concept through commissioning—ensuring systems meet performance, safety, and quality standards.
Responsibilities
+ Design, install, and validate machine vision systems for inspection, defect detection, and part identification using platforms such as Cognex, Matrox Design Assistant, and Keyence.
+ Implement and support automation systems within Glass Cell environments, ensuring safe handling, alignment, and assembly of glass components in automotive production lines.
+ Collaborate with controls engineers to integrate PLCs, HMIs, and motion control systems. Experience with Rockwell Studio 5000, Siemens S7, and electrical/hydraulic schematics is preferred.
+ Lead automation projects including supplier coordination, timeline validation, and on-site commissioning. Ability to manage vendor relationships and enforce accountability is essential.
+ Work closely with production, maintenance, and quality teams to ensure seamless integration of new systems and continuous improvement of existing processes.
+ Create technical documentation, training materials, and standard operating procedures for robotic and vision systems.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
+ Hands-on experience with Fanuc robots, machine vision systems, and Glass Cell automation in an automotive assembly plant.
+ Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, and simulation software including ROBCAD, DELMIA, Process Simulate.
+ Strong understanding of industrial safety standards, electrical schematics, and automation integration.
+ Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills; ability to lead cross-functional teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience managing people and projects within a manufacturing engineering environment, preferably automotive final assembly.
+ Proven experience managing suppliers and holding them accountable.
+ Experience with automation and/or vision systems, project management, tooling, and assembly.
Work Environment
Standard work hours are typically 40 per week, but extended hours are common during launches or critical phases. The role may require 12-hour shifts, night shifts, and weekend support during build events or tooling installs. Travel will be required at times to support build events or tooling installs at non-local Final Assembly Plants, typically for 1-2 days at a time if necessary. The dress code is generally business casual, with flexibility allowing khakis and collared shirts as standard attire. Jeans are acceptable if professional looking, and closed-toed shoes are required at all times within the plants.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.87 - $46.80/hr.
