Job Title: Construction Inspector
Overview
We are seeking a dedicatedConstruction Inspectorto support construction and rehabilitation projects focused on municipal water distribution and wastewater collection systems. This role is responsible for on-site monitoring, ensuring compliance with contract documents, and facilitating communication between engineers and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
+ Monitor construction progress and quality to ensure alignment with contract specifications.
+ Serve as the primary on-site liaison between the engineering team and contractors.
+ Maintain comprehensive project records, including daily logs and updated drawings.
+ Review and verify contractor payment applications.
+ Participate in preconstruction, progress, and job site meetings.
+ Enforce and adhere to site safety protocols.
+ Assist engineers in gathering additional project details and resolving field issues.
+ Remain on-site throughout the duration of the construction project.
+ Evaluate progress schedules, shop drawings, submittals, and schedule of values.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience
+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction inspection, particularly in water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
+ Familiarity with potable water line installation, sanitary sewer systems, pump and lift stations, and treatment plant construction.
+ Ability to read and interpret civil construction plans and specifications.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
+ Experience with construction documentation software such as Procore.
+ Willingness to travel to project sites across Indiana and stay overnight when necessary.
Work Environment
This is a field-based role requiring work in all weather conditions. The focus is on observation and documentation rather than hands-on inspection. The position involves writing daily reports on construction activities and requires travel throughout Indiana. Most project sites are within approximately 80 miles of Indianapolis. Accommodations and a daily per diem are provided for overnight stays. Mileage is reimbursed at $0.70 per mile. Standard construction hours apply, with the potential for overtime up to 50+ hours per week.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is$33.65 - $37.72/hr.
