Analytical Lab Technician
Job Description
The Analytical Technician will support a variety of short- and long-term projects with minimal supervision from the Senior Research Scientist. This hands-on role involves assisting with project execution, including the preparation of reagents and media for relevant assays and performing those assays as directed. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in microbiology, be proficient in basic laboratory mathematics and unit conversions, and possess skills in media preparation and bacterial sample plating.
Responsibilities
+ Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
+ Conduct regular equipment validation and maintenance checks.
+ Execute a range of laboratory techniques and protocols related to analytical chemistry.
+ Prepare media and reagents in volumes appropriate for weekly workload requirements.
+ Assist the Senior Research Scientist in drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for new protocols.
+ Interpret and adapt experimental protocols from scientific literature.
+ Perform streak plating techniques for bacterial sample isolation.
+ Conduct bacterial enumeration for various sample types.
+ Perform local travel between sites (50-75%, less than 1 mile between facilities).
+ Participate in weekly meetings to discuss project progress and findings.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field.
+ Prior laboratory experience in microbiology, biology, biochemistry, or chemistry.
+ Competency in essential laboratory techniques, including unit conversions, pipetting, weighing, serial dilutions, and bacterial enumeration.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
+ Hands-on experience as an undergraduate researcher and industry experience (1+ year).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Knowledge of Quality Control principles and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
+ Experience conducting independent research projects with minimal supervision.
+ Skilled in analyzing scientific data using statistical methods.
+ Hands-on experience with molecular and biochemical techniques, including PCR, Real-Time PCR, ELISA, enzymatic assays, protein/peptide assays, and SDS-PAGE.
+ Strong troubleshooting skills for experimental procedures and laboratory techniques.
+ Exceptional attention to detail for accurate, precise, and reproducible data.
+ Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
+ Results-driven and task-oriented with a strong work ethic.
+ Proven ability to design experiments, collect data, and contribute to publishable scientific work.
+ Skilled in collaborating across departments to compile, analyze, and interpret data.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
