Job Title: Construction Materials Tester / Inspector (CMT)Job Description
In this role, the engineering technician will conduct field observations, inspections, and tests of soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt placement. Effective daily communication with site contractors, other technicians, and project managers is essential. The candidate should possess the expertise to perform observations, inspections, and tests on construction projects, documenting findings in accordance with accepted engineering practices. After inspections, the individual will be responsible for submitting daily, weekly, and monthly reports to verify the data collected in the field.
Responsibilities
+ Perform field observations, inspections, and testing of construction materials including soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt.
+ Communicate effectively with site contractors, other technicians, and project managers on a daily basis.
+ Document findings accurately and according to accepted engineering practices.
+ Submit detailed reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to confirm field data.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 2 years of recent field experience in construction materials testing.
+ Experience with residential, commercial, or industrial projects.
+ Certifications such as ACI are preferred.
+ Proficiency in soil analysis and concrete testing.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Intermediate level computer skills.
+ Clean driving record.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Materials testing/special inspection background with field experience.
+ Certifications including ICC (Structural, Concrete Masonry, etc.), NICET, TROXLER, QMS.
Work Environment
The individual will work in the field almost 100% of the time. Projects will involve residential subdivision development to ensure soil support for construction, as well as projects in commercial and industrial sectors.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $35.00/hr.
