    Phlebotomist II

    Job Description

    The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various duties, troubleshooting, and training while making workflow recommendations. The position involves collecting and storing specimens in accordance with established protocols and updating patient information.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and conduct decontamination procedures.

    + Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.

    + Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection procedures clearly and courteously.

    + Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.

    + Fully understand all physicians' orders.

    + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

    + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.

    + Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.

    + Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperatures.

    + Place samples in appropriate collection containers and accurately label them.

    + Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

    + Attend annual department trainings.

    + Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

    Essential Skills

    + Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.

    + Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

    + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

    + High School Diploma or GED.

    + 2-4 years of experience in related fields.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Phlebotomy certification.

    + Patient service experience.

    + Data entry skills.

    + Customer service skills.

    Work Environment

    The work schedule is from 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM. The environment is fast-paced, requiring adherence to safety protocols and effective communication with patients and colleagues. The company offers great benefits, bonuses, and opportunities for growth

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $23.00/hr.
