    Phlebotomist II

    Job Description

    As a Phlebotomist II, you will play a crucial role in assisting with various duties, troubleshooting issues, providing training, and recommending workflow improvements. Your main function will be to perform venipunctures and other specimen collections while ensuring patient comfort and specimen integrity.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment.

    + Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.

    + Clearly explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process to patients in a courteous manner.

    + Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.

    + Fully understand all physician orders.

    + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure accurate labeling.

    + Centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.

    + Package specimens for transport and store them at required temperatures.

    + Follow specific protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transport.

    + Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

    + Attend annual department training sessions.

    + Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

    Essential Skills

    + Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, where applicable.

    + Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

    + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

    + High School Diploma or GED.

    + 2-4 years of relevant experience.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Phlebotomy and specimen processing.

    + Customer service skills.

    + Experience with patient service centers and data entry.

    Work Environment

    The position operates in a clinical laboratory environment with working hours from 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM. The role involves using diagnostic equipment and maintaining a professional dress code appropriate for a medical setting. The company offers great benefits, bonuses, and opportunities for growth.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr.
