    Qualification include an active North Carolina or Multi state Registered Nurse (RN) license, 3-5 years of leadership experience within, oncology or cancer center experience preferred.

     

    The Oncology Manager is responsible for the day-to-day clinical operations of the Scotland Cancer Treatment Center. The Manager will work closely with the SCTC Office Coordinator, Oncology Coordinator, Outpatient infusion coordinator and the Lead radiation therapist to ensure quality and efficient care is always given. The Oncology Manager will be responsible to the SCTC Director and the Medical Director of the Medical and Radiation Oncology Department.

    Job Duties

    + Applies systematic processes at the program or service level to improve care.

    + Demonstrates expertise in the development and implementation of nursing standards for the management of oncology patients. Consults with discipline-specific experts for the interpretation and application of other professional standards.

    + Evaluates health care delivery by identifying problems, seeking resolutions, implementing change, assessing progress, and evaluating outcome in collaboration with appropriate personnel.

    + Offers expertise to peers and other health care professionals.

    + Age Specific Competency: Staff members will have knowledge of human growth and development through the life span of the patient and can meet the needs of and provide the care to these patients. The age categories to be included are: Young Adult/ Adult 18 - 64 years; Adult/ Middle-Aged 65 - 79 years; Geriatric 80+ years.

    + Quality of care: Uses continuous performance improvement techniques to systematically evaluate and improve quality of care.

    + Performance: Uses professional standards of care and practice as the basis for the evaluation of program or service practice.

    + Collaboration: Improves client outcomes at the program or service level using interdisciplinary process to identify, analyze, and resolve care issues.

    + Research: Promotes research utilization to improve patient care. Applies research findings, as appropriate, to improve patient care and educational programs. Promotes and assists others in the application of findings from research and/or studies.

    + Administers nursing care according to MD's orders and nursing plan of care within the scope of hospital and nursing department policies and procedures. Demonstrates accurate technical skills and operational knowledge of:

    + Procedures

    + Medications

    + IV Therapy

    + Chemotherapy

    + Treatments

    + Equipment

    + Side effect management

    + Telephone triage

    + Communicates (verbally & written) the results of the nursing assessment, the plan of care, and the patient's response to care to all individuals involved in patient care.

    + Recognizes the needs for additional patient care services and coordinates these activities with appropriate individuals or outside agency.

    + Demonstrates initiative to acquire skills necessary to provide new care treatments or services.
