+ Position: Part-Time Bilingual Therapist/Parenting Educator Coach
+ Location: Main office will be 175 Fulton Ave in Hempstead with frequent travel to 101 County Seat Drive in Mineola
+ Schedule: Up to 14 Hours Per Week - Schedule is very flexible - could be days/nights/weekends
+ Compensation: $30 to $34 per hour
Why This Role is Important:
The Therapist/Parenting Educator Coach (Bilingual) plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive therapeutic services to children and families as well as high-quality parenting education and coaching services to participants in the comprehensive parenting program within the Nassau County Family Treatment Court (NFTC) program. This role involves conducting individual and group therapy sessions, assessing child development and behavioral concerns, facilitating interactive parenting workshops, providing one-on-one coaching sessions, and supporting participants in developing effective parenting skills and strategies, as well as collaborating with program staff to ensure a holistic approach to supporting families affected by substance use disorders.
What You’ll Do:
+ Conduct individual and group therapy sessions for children of participants in the NFTC program, addressing the unique challenges and trauma associated with parental substance use disorders.
+ Assess child development, behavior, and emotional well-being, identifying any areas of concern or need for intervention.
+ Facilitate evidence-based parenting education workshops in English and Spanish, covering topics such as communication, discipline, child development, stress management, and building strong parent-child relationships.
+ Conduct individual parenting coaching sessions tailored to each family's unique needs and circumstances, providing personalized guidance and support.
+ Assist in facilitating peer-led parenting support groups in Spanish, creating a safe and inclusive environment for families to connect, share experiences, and encourage one another
+ Collaborate with the NFTC multidisciplinary team, including the Social Worker (Parent Educator/Coach), and other program staff, to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to supporting families.
+ Develop and implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored to the specific needs of each child and family, focusing on building resilience, improving coping mechanisms, and promoting healthy development.
+ Provide guidance and support to parents on addressing their children's emotional and behavioral needs, fostering positive parent-child relationships, and creating a nurturing environment.
+ Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including case notes, treatment plans, and progress reports.
+ Participate in regular case conferences with the NFTC team and community partners to discuss participant progress and coordinate services.
+ Continuously refine and improve workshop content and coaching techniques based on participant feedback, outcome data, and best practices in the field.
+ Assist in conducting assessments and developing individualized service plans for families, addressing their specific parenting needs and goals
+ Ensure cultural competence and sensitivity in all therapeutic interventions, adapting approaches to meet the unique needs of diverse families.
+ Remain up-to-date with the latest research, best practices, and evidence-based therapies in the field of child and family therapy, particularly in the context of substance use disorders.
+ Provide support and assistance to the Social Worker (Parent Educator/Coach) in the overall implementation and evaluation of the comprehensive parenting program.
+ Perform all other relevant duties as determined by Supervisor and EAC NETWORK Administration
Who We’re Looking For:
+ Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field, with a focus on child and family therapy. License preferred.
+ Fluency in both English and Spanish (written and spoken).
+ Extensive knowledge and experience in evidence-based therapeutic interventions for children and families affected by substance use disorders and trauma, as well as evidence-based parenting education and family support interventions.
+ Strong clinical skills, including assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic techniques tailored to children and families.
+ Strong facilitation and coaching skills, with the ability to engage and motivate participants.
+ Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and community partners.
+ Familiarity with trauma-informed practices and cultural competency in working with diverse populations.
+ Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
+ Proficiency in data collection and record-keeping.
+ Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel to participant homes and community locations as needed.
+ Proficiency in data collection, documentation, and report writing.
