St. Mary’s Healthcare is seeking a part-time Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) to join our collaborative surgical team in Amsterdam, NY. In this 0.6 FTE role, the PA will assist in the operating room, provide perioperative care, and support surgical consults across a variety of procedures. This is an excellent opportunity for a surgical PA seeking part-time hours, meaningful surgical experience, and a team-based environment.

Position Highlights:

+ Part-time, hospital-employed position (0.6 FTE)

+ Opportunities across multiple surgical specialties

+ Supportive, multidisciplinary team with a strong focus on quality and collaboration

+ Work with experienced surgeons and OR staff in a modern, well-equipped surgical suite

Responsibilities:

+ Assist surgeons during operative procedures as a first assist

+ Perform preoperative and postoperative assessments, including documentation, education, and discharge planning

+ Coordinate follow-up care and ensure proper documentation in EMR

+ Assist in managing surgical patients across general surgery and subspecialty services

+ Participate in team meetings, quality initiatives, and performance improvement activities

Qualifications:

Required Credentials - Licensed Physician Assistant in the State of New York , NCCPA certification

Preferred Experience - 1+ years of surgical experience preferred but not required

Education - Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program

Skills - Strong clinical assessment, procedural, and communication skills

Compensation & Benefits:

+ Base Salary Range - $63.70 - $69.49 per hour

Complexity of Work:

This role requires strong clinical judgment, technical skills, and adaptability across a wide range of surgical care needs. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing responsibilities with minimal supervision.

Follows Standard Precautions and uses appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure the safety of both patients and staff.
