POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Educational Talent Search is a federally funded program designed to assist economically and disadvantage youth who wish to continue their education beyond the secondary level. The program provides serves to eligible 6 – 12thgraders in targeted schools and districts. The Director of Educational Talent Search provides immediate supervision to the oversite of academic, career and educational counseling, as well as technical assistance with the entire admission and financial aid application process. The Director is responsible for developing and implementing all project activities and oversee the staff for the program. They will works in collaboration with College administrators, district public school systems, participants and families.

Minimum Qualifications
QUALFICATION REQUIRED:
Master’s Degree in Education, Guidance and Counseling or related fields/disciplines from an accredited institution; A minimum of 3 years of administrative or supervisory experience in social services, counseling, federal program administration or related field. Work in TRiO programs preferred. Required supplemented by experience in the following:

+ Initiative and leadership qualities, with the ability to relate to young people

Job Duties and Other Information
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Serve as the immediate supervisor of SUSLA TRiO Educational Talent Search Program operations including oversees the management of staff, participants, and activities.
+ Responsible for the development of implementation of all project activities of the SUSLA ETS project, including initiation of all budget transactions, scheduling and assignment of educational advocates’ duties.
+ Develop, maintain, and evaluate policies and procedures for ETS information and assistance activities.
+ Conduct orientations, recruit, and identify and screen secondary school students’ eligibility for ETS services; determine and provide services needed.
+ Serve as the liaison that oversees the direct outreach activities at secondary schools, community based organizations, community meetings and other appropriate settings.
+ Orient secondary school personnel to the ETS program.
+ Develop and coordinate support services such as tutoring and skills workshops for participants.
+ Provide direct vocational, career and academic advising to persons seeking post-secondary education including the use of technology and other data resources. Assist enrolled participants in clarifying realistic educational goals.
+ Coordinate all project special events, academic component, and summer program activities.
+ Ensure effective communication with all secondary partners, staff, and teacher employees. Assist with hiring and employment related matters.
+ Prepare all ETS reports; reports to Executive Director; provides training and staff development
+ Perform related duties as required.
