About this Job
The mission of the Louisiana Department of Health is to protect and promote health and to ensure access to medical, preventive, and rehabilitative services for all residents of the State of Louisiana.
This Medical Certification Specialist 2 position is a Part-Time position within Health Standards Section. Health Standards is responsible for the licensing and certification of the healthcare programs located in the state. The ideal candidate will conduct surveys with certified surveyors on approximately 35 different health care providers and suppliers that operate in the State of Louisiana.
Minimum Qualifications
A current Louisiana license in a health services field, health regulation field, or social services field plus two years of experience in hospital or nursing home administration, health services, health regulation, or social services; OR
A bachelor's degree plus two years of experience in hospital or nursing home administration, health services, health regulation, or social services; OR
A master's degree in a health services field, health regulation field, or a social services field plus one year of experience in hospital or nursing home administration, health services, health regulation, or social services.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Conducts a facility review relative to construction, organization, policies, and procedures, administration and quality of services to determine the extent of compliance with the state licensure standards and Medicare and Medicaid regulations.
+ Obtains information from review of records, personnel interviews, resident interviews, and personal observations relative to the non-medical aspects of the operation of the facility and compliance standards.
+ Conducts special investigations with certified surveyors in response to complaints and prepares reports on findings.
+ Interprets state and federal regulations to providers/suppliers as needed.
+ Cooperates with administrators of facilities and professional groups in the preparation and presentation of education programs for health and social care personnel.
+ Participates in an ongoing quality assurance program to ensure program integrity.
+ Perform additional duties as assigned.
Preference will be given to applicants with a Louisiana RN Licensure.
