    Position Summary

    Reporting to the Dean of the Law School, the Associate Dean will provide vision and leadership for the seven offices supporting student success. Together, these represent the primary resources available to students for navigating life at the Law School and their careers afterwards: the Office of Career Services, the Judicial Clerkship Office, the Public Interest Law Center, the Office of Student Affairs, the Office of Graduate Affairs, the Diversity and Inclusion team, and Community Standards. The Associate Dean will have a passion for the provision of superb student services, enjoy working in a diverse and fast-paced environment, and support the mission and goals of NYU Law School. They will serve as a member of the Dean’s leadership team and as a representative for student affairs and professional advancement throughout the Law School and University.

    Qualifications

    Required Education:Juris Doctorate (J.D.) or other relevant advanced degreeRequired Experience:10+ years of relevant professional experiencePreferred Experience:10+ years of progressively responsible experience in student affairs or career services at a law school.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Excellent leadership skills including the supervision and development of professional staff. Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, flexibility, and a strong sense of commitment to excellence. Ability to create and foster an environment of mutual respect and tolerance. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify creative, mission-focused and data-driven solutions. Ability to handle stressful situations, and create thoughtfully and institutionally-aligned responses. Comfortable with ambiguity, change and innovation. Capable of representing the Dean and the Law School in different contexts.Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Strong strategic analysis skills; effectively uses data to inform decisions. Change management experience. An understanding of and sensitivity to student-related issues and professional responsibility in the context of legal education. Knowledge and understanding of current trends and best practices in legal education and student success. Commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence.

     

    Additional Information

     

    In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $230,000.00 to USD $280,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
