    Serve Colorado State University Dining Services with loyalty, competence and professionalism and to expect the same from others; to maintain within our Institution the highest standards of service, quality products and food safety and to promote the same standards within the community by personal practice and example. Residential Dining Services sole purpose is to provide Colorado State University students, faculty/staff and the community with a quality food service program.

    Position Summary

    This position is a 9-month temporary assignment. To act as a general foodservice worker and perform a variety of supportive foodservice work including, but not limited to: cashier handling, hosting, meeting and greeting guests, confirming reservations, packing meals and preparing to-go orders, tasting food, preparing and cooking both hot and cold food, cleaning tasks, etc. Must learn the rules and regulations of dining services and orient themselves with the facility in order to be able to organize and prioritize work assignments within established operating procedures and guidelines. Must be able to work in varying work conditions and be on your feet for extended periods of time, and wear a mask for the duration of your shifts.

    What You’ll Gain as a Culinary Student Aide:

    + Experience with food service operations including line service, food prep, cleaning, and sanitation

    + Exposure to large-scale kitchen procedures, including recipe execution, batch cooking, and inventory support

    What You’ll Do:

    As aCulinary Student Aide, your responsibilities may include:

    + Assist in the daily operations of the dining center, helping to monitor team compliance and ensuring service runs smoothly

    + Work closely with classified staff and student supervisors to meet prep and service schedules

    + Execute a variety of cooking methods: chopping, measuring, roasting, frying, grilling, steaming, etc.

    + Assist with food production from daily menus using standardized recipes and techniques

    + Follow portioning and storage practices for prepared food

    + Record and monitor temperature checks ( HACCP compliance)

    + Clean and sanitize workstations, kitchen equipment, and service areas

    + Rotate through the dish room and waste disposal duties as assigned

    + Practice proper hygiene and safety procedures at all times

    Uniform Requirements:

    • Green CSU Dining Services t-shirt will be issued by the employer to be worn on every shift.

    • Aprons and nametags are to be worn.

    • Solid color pants are to be worn at all working times.

    • Long hair must be pulled back away from the face and off the shoulders by an approved hair restraint (hairnet, employer-issued baseball hats).

    • If the employee wishes to keep a beard, a hairnet must be worn at all times.

    • It is the responsibility of the employee to keep the uniform in a clean, acceptable appearance.

    1. Serve foods according to established standards and portions.

    2. Assure foods that are served always meet the highest standards of quality and appearance.

    3. Occasionally prepare foods using skills that include, but are not limited to, baking, roasting, sauteing, frying, grilling, broiling, steaming, chopping, measuring, and mixing.

    4. Understand and safely use power operated foodservice production and cleaning equipment.

    5. Meet defined food production standards guided by standardized recipes and menus.

    6. Provide input on food production volume and inventory levels to assure services are not disrupted by outages.

    7. Record and verify necessary food production and service temperatures to assure the highest standards of food safety are met continuously.

    8. Monitor and restock food and supplies to prevent disruptions in service.

    9. Conduct inventory.

    10. Conduct opening and closing procedures in a defined work area.

    11. Indirectly supervise Temporary Hourly Employees and Student Employee within a defined work area to assure staff are meeting defined standards of food production, quality, and safety.
