    The Position

Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisors and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors manage a caseload budget; determine eligibility or ineligibility; assess vocational rehabilitation needs; develop individualized plans for employment (IPE); coordinate the delivery of services; provide counseling and advocacy services; provide appropriate job placement; and determine employment outcome in order to minimize disabling conditions and reduce dependency for individuals whose mental or physical disability presents a barrier to employment and/or self-sufficiency.

Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.

The Rehabilitation Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily operations of Rehabilitation Counselors, typically two or more, across a district office and a satellite location. This role ensures services comply with federal and state regulations while supporting staff through training, performance evaluation, caseload assignments, and resolution of complex casework issues. The supervisor is also involved in hiring decisions, formal case reviews, and disciplinary actions when needed. Fiscal oversight is a key responsibility, approving higher-level expenditures, and ensuring spending aligns with program goals and policies. The supervisor interprets and enforces agency guidelines, monitors staff performance through case reviews and reports, and implements corrective actions when necessary. They also address client complaints, maintain strong relationships with community partners, and promote effective service coordination. In the event of staff shortages, the supervisor steps in to maintain continuity of services. This position will work on a team with other Rehabilitation Supervisors and is a part of Rehabilitation Leadership.
