Position Purpose
To plan, supervise, and perform the activities associated with the construction, maintenance and repair of underground line extensions, services, street lighting and underground or related systems. Additionally, to provide assistance and oversight in the construction, maintenance and repair of substation equipment and all related systems. To perform these duties and achieve these objectives without direct supervision and to ensure that these projects are completed in a timely fashion and in accordance with Unitil Company standards. Ensure the timely and accurate completion of all necessary records, timesheets, paperwork and documentation needed for accounting, regulatory, asset management, and related purposes. Ensures that all work activities and interactions with customers reflect the highest standards for conduct and professionalism. This position falls under the Department of Transportation drug testing requirements.
Principal Accountabilities
End Results
Project Oversight and Coordination: Provides oversight, supervision and coordination of personnel, equipment and material required to accomplish project associated with electrical facilities.
+ Conducts inspections for existing electric underground network systems and equipment and accurately record findings and maintenance performed.
+ Conducts inspections of manholes containing underground equipment such as; energized primary and secondary conductors, transformers, switches, fault interrupters, etc. and accurately record findings and maintenance performed.
+ Troubleshoots, tests and repairs underground equipment including; PILC cables, poly cable, secondary cables, network transformers, switches, interrupters, etc. This includes using fault locating equipment to locate cable failures on both primary and secondary cables.
+ Installs equipment and material associated with underground rural developments including; services, secondary cable, primary cable, sector cabinets and transformers.
+ Ensures customer satisfaction, proper installations and ultimately successful completion of projects.
+ Prepares and ensures the timely and accurate completion of project as-built designs and records.
+ Ensures all projects are completed according to company standards.
+ Properly cares for and maintains company equipment such as; assigned vehicle, tools, material, etc., including timely completion of records associated with such equipment.
Cross Boundary/Interdepartmental Teamwork: Provides support for the substation crew and line crews in times of emergency and necessity.
+ Assists the substation crew with the construction, maintenance and repair of substation equipment and materials.
+ Assists the line crews during times of system emergencies and necessity.
Leadership: When upgraded to Lead Cable Splicer;
+ Teaches methods and procedures involved in all phases of underground linework, as well as substation work in order to foster a workforce that is highly skilled and safety conscious.
+ Communicates openly with concerns and suggestion for improvements that support company strategic plans and goals.
+ Confronts issues, addresses conflict, resolves problems and recommends solutions.
+ Demonstrates competencies and sense of direction and concern for customers and fellow employees.

Requirements
+ Fully qualified as a Cable Splicer 1st Class.
+ Must maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
+ Requires CDL and Driver Qualification File
+ Will be drug tested under the FMCSA drug pool
+ Must reside within a specified geographic area in accordance with UWUA / B.U.W. Local Union #B340 contractual agreement.
+ Be available for duties during times of system emergencies and trouble calls.

HOURS: Hours shall be Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
WAGE: Ultimate Rate: $54.79 per hour, for a 40 hour week. Overtime rates in accordance with UWUA Agreement, Local #B340.
