Job Description:

The Lead Systems Engineer (SE) will be responsible for supervising a team supporting the requirements, design, development, test, integration, and troubleshooting of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on airborne and simulation lab communication platforms. The Lead SE will be a subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of job area and in-depth knowledge of project engineering and management.

Essential Functions:

+ Prepare and present technical results for internal and external program meetings.

+ Document and support design verification tests within lab, ground and flight test environments.

+ Develop, track and present technical metrics.

+ Evaluate requirements definition, flow-down and traceability.

+ Analyze data from verification test efforts.

+ Generate and maintain schedule for engineering activities.

+ Maintain risk assessment and development of mitigation strategies.

+ Work closely with Project Engineering and Program Management.

+ Support training and development of new team members.

+ Responsible for managing engineering team during travel to offsite facilities for integration.

+ Manage large, complex project initiatives of substantial importance to the organization with minimal oversight or direction on and off-site.

+ Communicates within and outside of the organization to explain and influence changes to practices, processes and approaches.

+ Provides input into new products/processes and implements operational plans that have measurable impact on business or functional results.

+ Responsible for a team of engineers during off-site installations.

+ E xceptional written, oral, and presentation communication skills.

+ Read and interpret technical specifications, engineering blueprints, test procedures, and technical publications.

+ Hands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware.

+ Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, Teamcenter, DOORS, etc.

+ Experience working successfully both independently and in a team environment with the ability to lead teams through an entire annual sustainment cycle.

+ Excellent people skills to include collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.

+ Engineering efforts involving FAA-certified general category aircraft. (747, 757, or 737 preferred)

+ Creating system drawings, schematics and/or Signal interfaces.

+ Airborne and or operational experience with Mission Communications Systems offboard radios or network communications.

+ Working with subcontractors and US Government customers.

+ Knowledge of Assessment and Authorization (A&A) process and implementation of systems that achieved an Authorization to Operate (ATO) on government networks DODAF.

+ Working government and/or military program effort bidding process.

+ Willing and able to travel up to 20%.

+ Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree with nine (9) years’ of leading projects and/or task teams in the integration of systems and/or subsystems in airborne and/or Lab environments experience.

+ Graduate degree with seven (7) years’ of leading projects and/or task teams in the integration of systems and/or subsystems in airborne and/or Lab environments experience.

+ In Lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years’ of leading projects and/or task teams in the integration of systems and/or subsystems in airborne and/or Lab environments experience.

+ Must have an active Secret DoD Clearance with abilty to obtain and maintain a Top Secret with SCI.

+ Current Secruity+ Certification is required.

+ Must be a US Citizen.

Preferred Additional Skills:

+ Active TS w/SCI.
