Amergis is seeking a dedicated Teacher for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing to provide specialized instruction in academic or adapted curriculum settings, supporting students with hearing impairments in achieving their full potential.
Position Overview:
The Teacher for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing delivers instruction tailored to the needs of deaf and hard-of-hearing students, using appropriate communication methods and assistive technologies to foster academic success and personal growth.
Minimum Requirements:
+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (preferred)
+ Valid state teaching certification as required
+ Proficiency in Sign Language and experience with amplification devices
+ Experience working with deaf and hard-of-hearing students (preferred)
+ ASL proficiency exam or certification may be required (based on state, contract, or district)
+ Compliance with professional standards of practice
+ Current CPR certification (if applicable)
+ TB test, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable)
+ Current health certificate (as required by contract or state)
+ Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
