Job Summary:

The Project Engineer supports the Specialty Products Group in estimating work, launching projects, and driving continuous improvement.

This is a hands-on position.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

+ Interfaces with customers to understand critical elements of the project, ensure Fecon has what is needed to successfully execute the project, resolve open tasks with the customer, and provides updates as new projects are launched.

+ Performs estimating work to support quoting of new projects.

+ Inputs accurate data entry to ERP management system and manages data such as routings and bill of materials.

+ Completes all documentation as needed ensuring projects are successfully launched (process maps, layouts, SOPs, etc.)

+ Supports the engineering of new fixturing and work holdings.

+ Orders consumables as needed.

+ Develops and improves testing procedures.

+ Supports built in quality intiaitives.

+ Works with the engineering department or the customer on manufacturability improvements.

+ Communicates/escalates daily information, trends and concerns.

+ Monitors Gross Margin variance reporting and drives continuous improvement as needed.

+ Leads cross functional operational readiness process for New Project Introductions.

+ Tracks and oversees open tasks to ensure timely completion of deliverables.

+ Generate reports for transparent accountability.

+ Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

+ Knowledge of capital project management.

+ Proficient with SolidWorks or similar CAD software

+ Experience working with Vertical Mills, Machining Centers, and Lathe equipment

+ Fixture design experience is preferrable.

+ Understanding of lean manufacturing principals is required.

+ Ability to implement improvements.

+ Possesses strong knowledge of manufacturing processes.

+ Ability to understand part drawings and how to implement changes to improve manufacturability.

+ Skilled in using MS Office

Education and Experience:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience

+ Minimum of 6 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

+ Understands weld processes.

Physical Requirements:

+ A substantial portion of this position is spent on the Shop Floor. Must be able to work within the production facility being a resource for all areas.

+ Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

+ Must be able to lift-up to 15 pounds at times.
