    Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The MEPS are a network of 65 MEPS located nationwide and in Puerto Rico. The mission of USMEPCOM and the MEPS is to process individuals for enlistment or induction into the armed services, based on DoD-approved peacetime and mobilization standards. Responsibilities As a Supervisory Medical Technician, you will: Supervise Medical Technicians and other assigned staff in the office. Set up, train, oversee and perform operator-level maintenance and calibrations on a wide variety of medical equipment, instruments and apparatus. Explain disqualifying conditions to applicants who have significant health issues discovered during the course of their examination. Coordinate with the Medical Officer, the MEPS Commander, Sector Advisors, and/or USMEPCOM staff for program improvements and enhancements. Establish and modify local work procedures governing all aspects of medical processing. Track and maintain medical assessment data. Perform and oversee Quality Review Procedures (QRP) on medical records. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Performing and/or advising on a variety of complex test, procedures and examinations in a clinical laboratory; Maintaining quality assurance and quality control checks of test results; Performing phlebotomy on patients; Delegating tasks and providing technical guidance to medical technicians and/or medical personnel; Performing quality assurance reviews of applicant records and ensuring they include test result. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). Current permanent Federal employees can use specialized experience at the second lower grade level (GS-07) or equivalent. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. One year supervisory probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
