Overview

As a **Lead Grounds Technician** with ABM, you will oversee the maintenance and enhancement of the campus landscape and outdoor environments. You’ll lead a team of groundskeepers to ensure that all exterior areas reflect the high standards of SpaceX’s mission-driven culture. This role requires hands-on expertise, leadership, and a proactive approach to site aesthetics, safety, and sustainability.

Responsibilities

+ Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the grounds crew, ensuring timely and high-quality execution of landscaping, irrigation, and grounds maintenance tasks.

+ Perform and oversee tasks such as mowing, trimming, planting, pruning, fertilizing, and pest control.

+ Maintain and troubleshoot irrigation systems, including scheduling, repairs, and water conservation practices.

+ Ensure all outdoor areas are clean, safe, and visually appealing, including walkways, parking lots, and green spaces.

+ Monitor grounds conditions and recommend improvements or repairs.

+ Maintain inventory of landscaping supplies and equipment; coordinate with vendors as needed.

+ Train and mentor grounds staff, promoting safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

+ Collaborate with Facilities, Security, and Environmental Health & Safety teams to support site-wide initiatives and events.

Basic Qualifications

+ High school diploma or GED.

+ 5+ years of experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping, including 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.

+ Proficiency with landscaping tools, equipment, and irrigation systems.

+ Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Preferred Skills and Experience

+ Certification in horticulture, landscaping, or irrigation systems.

+ Experience with sustainable landscaping practices and native plant care.

+ Strong organizational and communication skills.

+ Ability to read site plans and landscape blueprints.

+ Experience working in a fast-paced, industrial or high-tech environment.

Physical Requirements

+ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks.

+ Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, or overtime as needed.
