    Job Duties : This position is responsible for designing and preparing artwork and print material including pamphlets, posters, charts, graphs and brochures. Position will create rough design and layout using computer software and confers with the requestor for approval. The Graphic Artist is responsible for proofing jobs for format, will paste up and lay out materials and produce copy or send to printer. The Graphic Artist is responsible for designing and preparing artwork and print material. Converts artwork to specific printing and bindery requirements set by printing companies, reviews and approves the final proof. Orders and maintains art supplies and equipment, plans and executes print-ready artwork and digital photography. Knowledge of art and print layout and design techniques, computer software usage in graphic design and artwork and printing equipment is necessary.

     

    Applicants must meet or exceed the following qualifications : A bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual arts, or a related field. At least two years of professional experience in graphic design or media production. At least two years of professional experience in graphic design or a related field, preferably within a governmental or public sector environment.

    Job Summary

    The Graphic Artist is responsible for producing high-quality visual materials to communicate messages and ideas effectively across various media formats within the state government. This position involves collaborating with multiple state departments and agencies to create designs that support the goals and objectives of the Arkansas state government. The Graphic Artist will work within the established guidelines, policies, and branding standards, ensuring that all visual assets are aligned with the state's communication strategies. The role demands creativity, technical expertise, and the ability to meet deadlines while adhering to budgetary and project constraints.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Develop and design visually compelling graphics for a variety of media, including but not limited to websites, publications, social media, posters, flyers, banners, and reports. Assist in creating graphic elements for digital content and campaigns, ensuring that they align with state branding standards and messaging. Collaborate with communication, marketing, and public relations teams to understand project requirements and create relevant design solutions. Prepare and format design files for printing and digital publication, ensuring all specifications are met. Stay current with design trends, software advancements, and best practices to ensure high-quality deliverables. Review and edit designs based on feedback from stakeholders, ensuring that revisions are completed accurately and promptly. Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards of quality. Maintain an organized digital archive of completed design projects and assets for easy retrieval. Assist with the creation of visual assets for presentations, signage, and other state-related events. Participate in meetings to discuss project scope, timelines, and deliverables with team members and supervisors. Ensure all designs are consistent with the state’s visual identity and guidelines for accessibility, inclusivity, and diversity.

     

    Knowledge and Skills

     

    Knowledge of graphic design principles, color theory, typography, and layout techniques. Understanding of state and federal regulations regarding accessibility, copyright, and public communication standards. Proficiency in graphic design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), or similar design programs. Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite or similar design software. A portfolio demonstrating a diverse range of design work, including print, digital, and web-based designs.

    Minimum Qualifications

    A bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual arts, or a related field. At least two years of professional experience in graphic design or media production. At least two years of professional experience in graphic design or a related field, preferably within a governmental or public sector environment.
