The College of Education has an exciting opening for an Associate Director for Advancement. This is a full-time permanent position.
Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Advancement, the Associate Director will lead fundraising efforts aligned with the Dean’s priorities, focusing strongly on discovery visits and long-term donor pipeline development. This role will identify and cultivate major donor relationships and design engagement strategies that advance the College of Education’s broader philanthropic goals. The Associate Director will collaborate with faculty leaders and volunteers supporting key initiatives such as Diversifying the Educator Workforce (DEW) and the Brotherhood and Sisterhood Initiatives (BI/SI), contributing strategic insight and coordination to enhance donor engagement.
What You Will Do:** **Frontline Fundraising (70%)
• Manage the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of a robust portfolio, focusing on major gift prospects ($100K+ and above).
• Prioritize discovery visits and proactive outreach to identify new major gift prospects and build a strong donor pipeline.
• Build and sustain long-term partnerships and trust while aligning donor passion and goals with those of the university.
• Develop and implement identification-to-solicitation strategies for each assigned major gift prospect and track progress towards fundraising metrics.
• Collaborate with University Advancement Central colleagues in Planned Giving, Regional Giving, Annual Philanthropy and Corporate & Foundation Relations to coordinate major gift discovery, engagement and solicitation strategies.
• Serve as liaison between department programs and prospective donors.
• Become familiar with individual unit programs, priorities and goals to accurately represent them to donors and prospective donors.
• In consultation with the Assistant Dean for Advancement, develop an annual work plan with clear goals and strategies to support prospect development for the College, including DEW, BI/SI and other emerging priorities.
• Provide strategic guidance to academic leaders and volunteers to strengthen donor engagement and build long-term relationships that lead to philanthropic support.
Relationship Management (20%)
• Maintain strong relationships with College of Education academic and program staff, key volunteers and other critical partners.
• Develop meeting agendas, prepare speakers and provide key information to enhance engagement.
• Partner with the Marketing Communications team to refine messaging and materials. Create and distribute communications that drive fundraising efforts.
• Support the Assistant Dean, College of Education Dean and volunteer advisory boards in their broader advancement efforts on behalf of the College.
Strategy and Program Development (5%)
• Inform strategy for promoting philanthropic priorities in collaboration with the College of Education Advancement team.
• Participate in devising an annual plan, including goals, objectives and strategies.
• Provide strategic leadership in designing and implementing advancement programs to sustain and increase university support.
• Evaluate programs using data analysis to assess progress toward goals and report on results regularly.
Other duties as assigned (5%)** **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience in development/advancement, with experience cultivating and soliciting major gifts.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.** **What You Bring:

• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships, contributing as a proactive team member.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, plan strategically and follow through effectively.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
