**UW Medical Center Security & Public Safety** has an outstanding opportunity for a **DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SAFETY** .
WORK SCHEDULE
+ 100% FTE
+ Monday - Friday; In-person (no telework)
+ Days; Some non-regular hours may be required to attend to security needs of the hospital **DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION** **The UW Medicine Department of Public Safety at UW Medical Center-Montlake and UW Medical Center-Northwest** is a team of certified security professionals dedicated to ensuring a safe environment for everyone. Our services include security patrols, safety escorts, admits, and responding to calls for assistance. UW Medical Center Security Services supports UW Medicine's mission by providing a safe and secure healing environment, engaging people with dignity and respect, and creating an exceptional experience for patients, visitors, families, and staff.
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
+ Lead Public Safety, to include Security and Parking/Commuter Services, at the No. 1 Hospital in Washington State
+ Work with a devoted team to strategically direct security for 2 of UW Medicine's major hospitals, reporting to the Chief Security Officer of UW Medicine **PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Author and operationalize strategic Security Management Plan, including financial stewardship of assigned budgets
+ Lead UW Medical Center’s Workplace Violence Prevention (WPV) program
+ Ensure department compliance with regulatory requirements and law such as Joint Commission (TJC), Department of Health (DOH), and WA State RCWs
+ Represent UW Medical Center with public and private agencies such as the UW Police Department, King County Sheriff/Jail, DOD, and Seattle Police Department
+ Ensure that physical security systems such as access control and surveillance systems support Security Service purposes and response strategies
+ Facilitate training of staff to ensure safety of staff, patients, families, and visitors; achieve a high level of competency and customer service **REQUIREMENTS**
+ Bachelor degree or equivalent education and experience
+ 9+ years demonstrated leadership experience in Security Services/Public Safety in a healthcare environment
+ Equivalent education/experience may substitute for the stated requirements
