Job Summary:

As a **Data Engineer** , your role is to design, build, and maintain systems that enable the collection, storage, and analysis of large volumes of data.

What You Will Do:

Data Pipeline Development

+ Build and manage ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines to move data from source systems (like databases, APIs, or logs) to data warehouses or lakes.

Data Modeling & Architecture

+ Design scalable data models and storage solutions that support analytics and reporting needs.

Data Integration

+ Integrate data from various internal and external sources, ensuring consistency and reliability.

Performance Optimization

+ Tune queries and systems for performance, especially when dealing with large datasets.

Data Quality & Governance

+ Implement checks to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and compliance with data governance policies.

Collaboration

+ Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver solutions.

What You Have:

+ Experience in Data Engineering.

+ Working experience of using Advance SQL queries in any database tools.

+ Working experience in any ETL tools (e.g. Snowflake)

+ Understanding of distributed systems and data architecture

+ Familiarity with data privacy and security best practices

+ **Effective Communications:** Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors

+ **Business Process Design:** Knowledge of business process design; ability to develop appropriate techniques to re-examine key processes and focus on optimizing organizational performance.

+ **Problem Solving:** Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

+ **Requirements Analysis:** Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project

Tools & Technologies

+ **Languages** : SQL, Python,

+ **Platforms** : Snowflake or any other equivalent ETL tool

+ **Databases** : PostgreSQL, MySQL, Snowflake, BigQuery

+ **Cloud** : AWS (Glue, Lambdas, Step functions)

+ The ideal location for this role is East Peoria-IL or Dallas-TX.

+ **This position requires the employee to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.**

+ This position may require 10% travel.

Summary Pay Range:

$87,480.00 - $131,280.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
