Position Summary:
This position processes archival material and works directly with library users to provide access to material in Archives & Special Collections. Processing includes receiving, arranging, and describing archival material. This position will primarily process university archival material though they may process smaller archival collections and addendums to existing collections.
They will work directly with in-person and online researchers, university personnel, and students to provide reference services and access to materials in Archives & Special Collections. Reference services include conducting research in response to information requests and fulfilling duplication requests in accordance with university policy, donor agreements, copyright, and fair use. The person holding this position will receive regular training to enhance existing skills and keep them current as technologies and procedures change.
This full-time library staff position is part of the Archives & Special Collections unit at the Dean B. Ellis Library and reports to the Head Archivist.
Duties & Responsibilities:
+ Provides reference services and conducts research to fulfill information requests for Archives & Special Collections patrons (in-person, mail, email, telephone, and other relevant forms of communication)
+ Receives, arranges, and describes select archival materials
+ Provides digital and photocopy images of archival material in compliance with university policies, donor agreements, copyright, and fair use
+ Supervises stacks maintenance and assists in acquiring new material for the Special Collections stacks
+ Digitizes select archival materials and resources for ARCH, the Dean B. Ellis Library’s institutional repository
+ Works with the Head Archivist to develop and implement procedures, guidelines, and workflows
+ Engages in continuing professional development
+ Other duties as identified or needed
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of basic library procedures and practices, and computers and their applications
Ability to operate general office equipment, communicate both orally and in writing, read and follow instructions, stand and walk for long periods, to move book carts, and lift up to 20 pounds, and stoop, bend and reach
General Days/Hours:
Monday through Friday: 8:00am-5:00pm, schedule will modify to include Saturdays dependent on Library operating hours

Minimum Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of a High School Diploma
Two (2) years of experience in an archival or library environment preferred
Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or parts of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee
