LOCATION OF POSITION: Fairport, NY 14450;Various Locations
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 10-Month Position, Full-Time
START DATE: September 2025
SALARY: Position shall receive an additional twenty percent (20%) of their base rate as teacher aide in the 2025-26 school year.
Base salary shall include extra hours adjustment.
DUTIES:
1. Facilitate Paraeducator meetings and plan/present training and professional development for Paraeducators in cooperation with Administrator.
2. Provide support to Paraeducator staff through positive problem-solving strategies and professionalism.
3. Assist with Orientation, training, and mentoring of new Paraeducators.
4. Assist with the recruitment of Paraeducators.
5. Instruct and mentor existing Paraeducators in new assignments.
6. Attend faculty meetings, staffing and afterschool events, as necessary.
7. Assist with filling staff absences, as necessary.
8. Assist with parent, staff, and student activities, as necessary.
9. Develop, review, and update para educator materials including training manuals and handbooks.
10. Work collaboratively with other Master Paraeducators.
11. Other related duties as determined by Administrator.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
2. Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills.
3. Experience planning/presenting training and professional development activities.
4. Training and experience in all (physical and non-physical) components of Crisis Prevention Strategies (e.g. TCI, SCIP).
5. Experience working with children with intense emotional, behavioral, and developmental disabilities.
6. Experience working with elementary and secondary students.
7. Able to maintain confidential information as needed.
8. Some experience in PC applications, specifically Microsoft Word and Outlook, as well as WinCap and WinCapWeb preferred.
9. Civil Service eligibility forTeacher Aide/Paraeducatorrequired: Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:
A. One (1) year of full time or its part time paid or volunteer equivalent experience working in a clerical capacity; OR,
B. One (1) year of full time or its part time paid or volunteer equivalent experience working with children; OR,
C. Possession of a certificate of completion of a course of Child Care Through an occupational school, the American Red Cross or similar agency; OR,
D. A combination of experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B), and (C) above.
10. Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation) including, but not limited to:
+ Performing physical intervention techniques.
+ Lifting/carrying/moving up to 50 lbs.
+ Standing, stooping, bending, crouching, squatting, kneeling, and/or reaching.
+ Supporting/transporting students in wheelchairs and/or aiding with transfer, ambulation, and positioning.
+ Escorting and/or walking with (in some cases running after) students in multiple settings such as in community-based activities, nature walks and school buildings.
11. Must be a current Monroe One BOCES Teacher Aide/Paraeducator or have substantially similar experience for at least 3 years full time 10-month.
