    Job Description

    This is a part-time, seasonal position that will be responsible for maintain property on Jones State Forest.

    Responsibilities:

    -Mow and trim Jones State Forest roads, trails and public use areas using zero-turn radius mower, tractor with mowing deck and other equipment.

     

    -Pick up trash and other debris to maintain positive appearance of forest grounds.

     

    -Mixing and application of herbicide under forest canopy using bulldozer/tractor.

     

    -Removal of brush and understory trees using mulching machine.

     

    -Daily maintenance and repair of equipment.

     

    -Other duties as assigned.

     

    Working Conditions: This is a field-related job. Work is outdoors and in remote forest environment under various geographic and climatic conditions with insects such as: bees, wasps, bugs, spiders, snakes, etc. and plants such as poison ivy. Work will be dusty and strenuous at times as well as highly hazardous due to the work equipment. All work will be conducted in a safe manner with proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as: hardhat, earplugs, safety glasses, etc worn at all times. Candidate must be able to work in this environment and walk, lift and be in overall good physical condition.

    Education and Experience:

    Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

     

    Required Experience: Familiar with using mowing equipment, such as zero radius and tractor-mowing deck/brush hog mowers.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Required Knowledge: PC-based programs and software.

     

    Preferred Knowledge: GIS/GPS programs

     

    Required Skills: Good oral and written communication skills.

     

    Required Abilities: Multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

    Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:

    Required: Valid Texas Driver's license

     

    Preferred: Pesticide Applicators license
