    Summary

    As the subject matter expert, will develop the market strategy, product roadmap, and lifecycle management for the specified market product and/or service with core technical competency in the following disciplines:

    + Carrier Transport

    + Carrier Ethernet

    + Enterprise telecommunications solutions

     

    Will manage its success from new product design, development, pricing, positioning, enhancements and go-to-market strategy. Will work at a close, cross-department basis both as a project lead and non-lead to ensure company objectives and goals are achieved. Act as the company’s subject matter resource and trainer for all sales channels on the specified product line. Will also manage Carrier and wholesale sales channel, including direct reports for sales (Carrier Sales Manager).

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    (Other duties may be assigned)

    + Plans, analyzes, organizes, and controls an assigned product from conceptual stages through product definition, development, implementation, training and ongoing management to meet marketing, financial, and corporate growth objectives.

    + Collaborates with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, marketing, engineering, customer service, operations and accounting to develop and provide products that are responsive to customer needs and market opportunities.

    + Manages product portfolio with primary focus on new product development and direct costs to ensure product profitability meets corporate objectives and develops bundling opportunities with other corporate product offerings that align with strategic objectives.

    + Conducts ongoing product research including competitive analysis, market trends, customer demand and market segmentation to direct the management of the product life cycle.

    + Locates or proposes potential business deals by contacting potential partners; discovering and exploring opportunities.

    + Screens potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities; recommending equity investments.

    + Develops negotiating strategies and positions by studying integration of new venture with company strategies and operations; examining risks and potentials; estimating partners' needs and goals.

    + Serves as sales lead for carrier products, sales consultant for enterprise products & solutions.

    + Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with business operations.

    + Identifies partnering opportunities for complementary third-party products to broaden company product line and meet corporate growth objectives.

    + Develop channel awareness internally and externally to support product portfolio.

    + Provides support and training to sales and marketing department through customer site visits, sales presentations, trade show and conference participation, and input on sales collateral to assist in the achievement of corporate sales objectives.

    + Translate technical product specifications into business requirements to develop and deliver sales communications materials for specific markets.

    + Provides product documentation and information to assist in the creation of product training material for the organization and participates in training as appropriate.

    + Assists in the definition and development of functional area metrics to maximize product gross and net margin in accordance with corporate objectives.

    Qualifications

    + Carrier and Wholesale Sales Manager – leads, manages, and generates carrier and wholesale sales opportunities including management of direct reports for carrier sales channel.

    + Undergraduate degree required

    + 5+ years experience in a corporate environment

    + 3+ years experience in the wholesale carrier

    + 5+ years experience in the telecommunications industry

    + Strong understanding of Ethernet products and network capabilities, with the ability to communicate and lead discussions around carrier Ethernet solutions; MEF certification is a plus

    + Skilled in business and financial management, including creating budgets, managing third-party supplier contracts, and understanding key metrics like ARPU (Average Revenue Per Unit)

    + Ability to add and manage telecom suppliers across a statewide service area (Texas), including building relationships and negotiating terms with rural or regional partners

    + Understands financial statements and acronyms

    + Proficient in Microsoft Office 2007, Project Management/EPM, MS Excel (MS Access is a plus)

    + Requires strong technical background

    + Strong analytical skills and proven ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data

    + Ability to manage complex projects and work cross-functionally within the organization

    + Manage and deliver against several initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

    + Make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure

    + Extroverted, approachable, and strong interpersonal skills – someone who can lead meetings, engage stakeholders, and influence both internal teams and external partners

    + Proficiency with Project Management and PowerPoint. Strong presentation skills.

    + Entrepreneurial spirit - enjoy the challenges of building a growing business in a rapidly changing and competitive industry

    + Familiar with Salesforce CRM is a plus

    + Open to traveling across Texas (~10%) to meet with suppliers, customers, and represent the company at industry events or conferences
