Job Descriptions:
Engineering CO-OP opportunity is at our research division (Kratos SRE) located in Birmingham, AL. The CO-OP requires a 3-semester commitment – rotating working a semester then returning to school for a semester.
This posting is for 2 CO-OPs, one starting in Fall 2025 and one starting Summer 2026. The rotations would be as follows:
Rotation 1 – Fall 2025; Rotation 2 - Summer 2026; and Rotation 3 - Spring 2027
Rotation 1 - Spring 2026; Rotation 2 - Fall 2026; and Rotation 3 – Summer 2027
COOPs support a department of engineers in test preparation and execution, data analysis, and data presentation. Students will also work in close cooperation with a variety of engineers, as well as laboratory and machine shop personnel, in order to accomplish tasks vital to the success of projects. Depending on the team assigned responsibilities may include:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
+ Assessment of aerospace composites, ceramics, and alloys
+ Design of test hardware using solid modeling software.
+ Test preparation including drawings, text requests, and documentation.
+ Data collection, analysis, and reporting.
+ Laboratory test method development.
+ SOLIDWORKS design and modifications.
+ 3D printing support
+ Additive Manufacturing support
+ Prototyping support as well as computer programming and hardware integration activities.
+ Perform other duties and assist other employees, as assigned.
Required Experience:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Qualifications
+ U. S. Citizen
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
+ Completed freshman year in engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics or other related field.
+ Strong analytical and creative problem-solving capabilities
+ Ability to work well with others in a dynamic environment.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills
+ Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
+ Self-motivated to continually expand knowledge and skills related to this position.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Completed sophomore year in engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, or another related field.
+ Programming experience
+ Experience with additive manufacturing/3D printing
+ Completed physics I, calculus I, and mechanics of materials
