**Job Title:** Interim Tax Manager, Transactional Tax

**Reports To:** Vice President, Tax
**Start Date:** August 4, 2025
**Duration:** 2 months (with strong potential for extension)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Interim Tax Manager to support our client's Finance team in maintaining full compliance with transaction tax obligations in the telecommunications industry. This role involves overseeing the preparation and submission of accurate tax filings across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local tax regulations.
Key Responsibilities
The Interim Tax Manager will be responsible for a wide range of tax-related functions, including but not limited to:
+ Supervising the preparation and review of transaction tax filings (e.g., sales/use, gross receipts, telecom taxes) by Tax Analysts and Senior Tax Analysts.
+ Overseeing the calculation and submission of TRS and E911 fees.
+ Verifying the accuracy of tax payments made through both electronic and manual methods.
+ Reviewing and preparing reconciliations for various tax accounts, including property tax, unclaimed property, and income tax.
+ Managing the business license tax filing process and maintaining tracking systems.
+ Creating and updating tax calendars to ensure timely compliance.
+ Analyzing monthly transactions and vendor data for consumer use tax reporting.
+ Providing guidance on invoice categorization for use tax purposes.
+ Reviewing daily tax categorization of purchase orders.
+ Monitoring revenue and write-off trends to assess tax remittance impacts.
+ Managing billing system tax configurations, including Vertex updates and new product setups.
+ Maintaining tax tables in NetSuite.
+ Training and supporting Tax Analysts on departmental procedures.
+ Reviewing month-end journal entries and tax return documentation.
+ Assisting with customer tax exemption certificate reviews.
+ Supporting the preparation and mailing of estimated payments, extensions, and income tax returns.
+ Preparing and submitting sales tax refund claims.
+ Assisting with audits by analyzing data and researching tax positions.
+ Responding to tax authority notices and resolving related issues.
+ Coordinating unclaimed property processes and filings.
+ Assisting with property tax budgeting and reconciliations.
+ Participating in special projects and process improvement initiatives.
+ Collaborating with departments such as Accounting, Legal, Internal Audit, HR, and regional teams
Qualifications
Education:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related business discipline.
Experience & Skills:
+ Minimum of 5 years of relevant tax experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
+ Proven ability to manage high volumes of tax filings and compliance tasks.
+ Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
+ Ability to build effective relationships across departments.
+ Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
+ Strong analytical and organizational skills.
+ Eagerness to expand tax knowledge and take on new responsibilities.
+ Experience with property tax and unclaimed property is a plus.
+ Background in the cable or telecommunications industry is advantageous.
Technical Proficiency
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
+ Experience with general ledger systems (Great Plains and/or NetSuite preferred).
+ Comfortable using internet-based tools, email, and database applications.
