    About the Role:

    Boston University's Enrollment Services Operations (ESO) team is seeking a Financial Aid Functional Analyst to support the operations, development, and continuous improvement of financial aid systems that support more than 25,000 students. This role is a key contributor to the analysis, documentation, configuration, testing, and support of packaged and custom applications that enable core financial aid processes.

     

    Reporting to the Financial Aid Lead, the Functional Analyst will partner closely with technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure that functional requirements are accurately translated into effective system solutions. This includes supporting integrations, forms, user interfaces, reports, and data mappings, as well as maintaining documentation, participating in testing activities, and contributing to service improvements.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Support the ongoing operation and maintenance of financial aid systems, including troubleshooting issues, documenting processes, and assisting with root cause analysis.

    + Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for business processes, requirements, data mappings, and test cases.

    + Collaborate on system enhancements, upgrades, and cyclical activities by writing user stories, test plans, training materials, and standard operating procedures.

    + Contribute to the development and delivery of functional documentation that supports consistent and effective system use.

    + Participate in projects by analyzing business needs, configuring system functionality, performing testing, and supporting releases.

    + Work closely with stakeholders across departments to gather requirements, support continuous improvement efforts, and implement best practices related to system enhancements and issue resolution. **About the Organization** Boston University Enrollment Services Operations is part of the Enrollment & Student Administration unit (ENSA).     + Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field

    + 2-3 years of experience in a functional or business analyst role, preferably in higher education or a financial aid environment

    + Familiarity with student information systems, financial aid systems, or ERP applications (e.g., Oracle PeopleSoft, Banner, Workday)

    + Strong documentation skills and attention to detail

    + Experience with functional testing, UAT, and systems analysis

    + Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

    + Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment **Preferred Qualifications:**

    + Knowledge of federal and institutional financial aid processes and regulations.

    + Experience with business process modeling, writing agile user stories, or data mapping.
