    Role Overview:

    The Senior Product Manager will focus on building automation products with a specialized emphasis on network protocols and device integration (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) systems, the responsibilities and qualifications would be as follows:

    Description

    As Product Manager, you will create and manage product roadmaps, full product life cycle from concept, development, and obsolescence. Evaluate and become the market segment expert on market conditions, competition, regulations, applications, and requirements. You will guide a team that is responsible for increasing the profitability of existing products as well as developing innovative new products for the organization. You possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy, big-picture strategic thinking, and the ability to make day to day tactical decisions as well. You will spend time researching the existing market, finding new markets for your product line, understanding customer needs and problems, and creating products that address them. You must be a great communicator as you will work cross-functionally with multiple departments - Engineering, Marketing, Procurement, Sales, Quality, and Manufacturing. In short, you will be the evangelist for your product line, helping the team build products that customers love.

    As a Product Manager, you will:

    + Lead the design and development of tools and products that integrate with a variety of HVACR systems and devices using protocols like BACnet, Modbus, MQTT, REST, and other protocols.

    + Work closely with technical teams to ensure effective integration of these protocols, tools and training that enabling seamless device communication across supervisory building management systems.

    + Proactively manage new product development deliverables in harmony with established NPD procedures including customer and third-party coordination, own the product thought lifecycle, from product conceptualization, development, and obsolescence / aftermarket needs.

    + Become the Copeland product expert on defining and building the product value proposition understand user needs and design technical solutions to solve market problems.

    + Understand the competitive landscape of all products and how Copeland products compare against competition. Analyze competitive products, product line strategies, strengths, and weaknesses.

    + Lead roadmap development of all products assigned. Accountable for execution of 5-year roadmap of all products

    + Owns the product priorities for new developments. Performs voice of customer research to understand customer needs

    + Determines product positioning in the market and ensures designs meet segment and customer needs and user they are intended for.

    + Leads and participates in cross-functional project teams to execute holistic product development with Engineering, Marketing, Procurement, Sales, Quality, Technical Support Services, and Manufacturing

    + Analyze and synthesize market dynamics, legislation, competitive assessments, segmentation analysis, and end user needs with product application expertise to generate a stream of new product development ideas.

    + Evaluate new product idea potential and practicality with respect to market opportunities and their effect on present products and exploit economically attractive opportunities.

    + Create a comprehensive business case outlining the expected return and financial justification for product line initiatives.

    + Manage all aspects of the product life cycle, including SKU management, product line sales and profitability, cost reduction opportunities, quality/reliability improvements, competitive pricing/positioning, forecasting, and end-of-life planning. Assess product line performance and implement appropriate actions.

    + Keep abreast and knowledgeable of delivery performance, capacity utilization, engineering product changes and customer quality acceptance.

    + Serve as Electronics & Controls liaison to appropriate industry associations providing market, product, and application expertise. Assist with internal market research and create training and promotional materials.

    + Work with Product Marketers to inform Go-To-Market content, channel, and campaign strategies and roll out programs.

    + Interact and work cooperatively with all levels of internal staff.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCES & SKILLS:

    + BS in Engineering or Business/Marketing, or the equivalent in practical experience.

    + Understanding of product management and technical specifications

    + Strong understanding of building automation systems (e.g., HVAC, Refrigeration, Lighting, energy management)

    + Relevant experience specificity with network protocols BACnet, Modbus, MQTT, and REST.

    + Proven business communication skills, both verbal and written

    + Legal Authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role.

    + Co-op or internship, experience in a relatable field

    PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCES & SKILLS

    + MBA preferred

    + Working knowledge of the markets, products, customers, and competitors in the HVAC/R industry, preferably as it relates to electronics and controls

    + Thorough knowledge of marketing dynamics as they apply to a technical manufacturing operation

    + Highly skilled in developing and delivering presentations to a wide variety of audience

    + Proven managerial skills in dealing with product lines

    + Minimum of 2-5 years product management related work experience

     

    Schedule

     

    We offer the flexibility of a core hour work schedule. Employees can flex2 work from home days. Our teams work together to ensure their chosen work schedules are supporting our customers. This role has a travel requirement of up to 20% of its time.
