Description
A leading technology company is seeking an Employment Litigation Attorney to join its in-house legal team on a full-time contract basis through January 2026. This is a high-impact role designed for a mid-level attorney with strong employment law expertise and litigation experience who can seamlessly navigate a range of internal and external legal matters. The ideal candidate will have the ability to balance strategic risk assessment with practical business solutions and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Provide employment law advice and counsel on matters impacting a U.S. and global workforce, including workplace policies, employee relations, performance management, accommodations, and terminations
+ Collaborate with People/HR partners and business leaders to proactively manage employment risk while supporting the company’s growth and culture
+ Help oversee and direct the work of investigations counsel in connection with HR and internal employee complaints, ensuring timely, thorough, and fair internal investigations
+ Support pre-litigation dispute resolution efforts by reviewing legal allegations, crafting risk assessments, developing response strategies, and drafting correspondence
+ Assist in managing active commercial litigation matters, including:
+ • Reviewing pleadings, discovery, and strategy proposals from outside counsel
+ • Coordinating case strategy approvals
+ • Partnering with internal legal operations to oversee discovery processes
+ Maintain thorough documentation and collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, including Legal, People, Compliance, and Operations
Requirements
Qualifications:
+ J.D. from an accredited law school; active and good standing with at least one U.S. state bar
+ 3–5 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on employment law and employment litigation
+ Prior experience conducting or overseeing workplace investigations or advising on investigatory processes
+ Exposure to commercial litigation and/or experience managing outside counsel is preferred In-house or tech/startup company experience is a plus but not required
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, and ability to manage multiple priorities independently
Additional Details:
+ Candidates based in the Bay Area are preferred for a hybrid schedule (3 days/week onsite) in the company’s San Francisco office
+ Candidates based outside the Bay Area must be available to work full-time and collaborate with teams on Pacific Time
