    About the Role

     

    Robert Half is seeking a skilled and adaptable IT Infrastructure & Network Administrator for our clients in the Madison area. This position requires a well-rounded individual with hands-on experience across virtualization, operating systems, endpoint support, and network configuration. You'll play a key part in maintaining uptime, security, and performance across the organization’s digital ecosystem.

     

    This is a Direct/Permanent Hire role that will require a hybrid work schedule.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Design and maintain virtualized environments using container-based and VM technologies, ensuring high availability and performance across clustered systems.

    + Administer identity and access management policies using centralized user authentication tools.

    + Configure, support, and troubleshoot network devices, including switches, routers, and wireless equipment.

    + Oversee connectivity for both on-site and remote users, including VPN access and remote endpoint configuration.

    + Conduct routine diagnostics to resolve system outages and connectivity disruptions.

    + Perform updates, manage system health, and troubleshoot issues within both Windows and Linux server environments.

    + Reinforce system security using layered protections, user training, and device-level safeguards such as firewalls and endpoint defense tools.

    + Track system metrics and analyze network traffic to ensure peak performance and preempt potential bottlenecks.

    + Deliver mid- to advanced-tier support for workstation and mobile technologies, including cross-platform environments (Windows, macOS, iOS, Android).

    + Maintain documentation for processes, resolutions, and changes to the environment.

    + Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders on ongoing improvement initiatives.

    + Assist with phone system configuration and support for VoIP technologies.

    + Take on additional responsibilities as needed in support of operational goals.

    Requirements

    Qualifications

    + Associate degree in a related discipline, certifications, or equivalent professional experience.

    + Demonstrated experience administering and scaling complex infrastructure environments.

    + Proficiency in user and policy administration within centralized directory frameworks.

    + Hands-on knowledge of virtual hosting platforms (e.g., cluster-based virtualization with VM/container support).

    + Familiarity with enterprise-grade firewalls and network security devices.

    + Strong understanding of core network services and protocols (e.g., IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, VLANs).

    + Experience supporting and maintaining both Linux and Windows server environments.

    + Proficient in configuring and supporting remote access tools and encrypted connection methods.

    + Exposure to VoIP platform management and user provisioning.

    + Able to provide technical support across a range of hardware, operating systems, and software tools.

    + Competent in productivity tools such as spreadsheets, word processors, and email platforms.

    + Excellent troubleshooting, multitasking, and interpersonal communication skills.
