Description

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Cost Accountant to join our team in central, New York. This is a long-term contract opportunity designed for a detail-oriented individual with expertise in cost accounting and manufacturing processes. The role requires a hands-on approach to analyzing production costs, implementing accounting systems, and collaborating with operational teams to drive financial accuracy.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze and manage costs associated with labor, materials, and production processes to ensure accurate reporting.

• Develop and maintain comprehensive bill of materials (BOM) to track production costs effectively.

• Conduct cost roll-ups and ensure all inputs are accurately reflected in financial systems.

• Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather and validate essential data for cost accounting.

• Implement accounting systems and processes, transitioning from legacy software to NetSuite.

• Train team members on cost accounting procedures and systems to ensure proper usage and understanding.

• Evaluate production floor operations to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve efficiency.

• Test and validate accounting systems to ensure functionality and reliability.

• Provide detailed cost analysis to support decision-making and operational planning.

• Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment with a focus on financial transparency.

Requirements • Minimum of 7 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment.

• Proven expertise in standard cost accounting and cost analysis.

• Familiarity with bill of materials (BOM) and cost roll-ups.

• Strong knowledge of NetSuite or similar ERP systems, with experience in system implementation being highly advantageous.

• Ability to analyze production processes and translate findings into actionable financial insights.

• Excellent communication skills for training and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

• Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and efficiency.

• Flexibility to work both on-site and remotely, with approximately 50% of time spent on-site.
