Description
We are looking for a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our team in Raleigh, North Carolina. This is a Contract-to-permanent position, offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to the financial operations of a nonprofit organization. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in accounting principles, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining compliance with financial regulations.
Responsibilities:
• Record and manage daily financial transactions while maintaining the general ledger with accuracy.
• Perform monthly reconciliations for bank and credit card accounts to ensure financial consistency.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely invoicing and payments.
• Process payroll and maintain compliance with tax and employment regulations.
• Track organizational expenses, including employee reimbursements, and allocate costs to appropriate grants and classes.
• Maintain detailed records of grant expenditures and ensure alignment with funding requirements.
• Support annual audits by preparing required documentation and assisting with audit processes.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including tax filings.
• Participate in relevant certifications and training opportunities to stay updated on best practices.
• Handle additional accounting and financial tasks as assigned.
Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and nonprofit accounting standards.
• Ability to meet strict monthly accounting deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working independently or collaboratively.
