Job Description: Senior Accountant (Non-Profit Focus)

Robert Half is seeking a Senior Accountant with expertise in non-profit financial operations to support a charity’s mission while ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. This professional will play a key role in financial management, reporting, and collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Oversee the financial operations of the non-profit charity, ensuring accuracy and strict compliance with accounting standards and regulations (Source: SG25 US Finance and Accounting.doc).

+ Prepare and review financial statements to reflect the organization’s financial health and performance accurately.

+ Manage and reconcile accounts, including donations, restricted funds, and revenue, ensuring accurate recording and reporting.

+ Ensure compliance with IRS non-profit tax and regulatory requirements, including IRS Form 990 filings.

+ Collaborate with internal teams to improve financial processes and strengthen internal controls (Source: SG25 US Finance and Accounting.doc).

+ Act as the main point of contact during audits, coordinating with external auditors and preparing all necessary schedules/documentation.

+ Provide financial analysis and insights to senior leadership, donors, and stakeholders for strategic decision-making.

+ Lead and mentor accounting staff and support volunteer workflows as needed.

+ Facilitate the integration of the non-profit’s financial systems into a larger publicly traded company’s operational framework.

Requirements

Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is a plus (Source: SG25 US Finance and Accounting.doc).

+ 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years working in or with non-profit organizations (Source: SG25-TREND 6).

+ Deep understanding of non-profit accounting (e.g., fund accounting, grants management) and IRS regulations (Source: SG25 US Finance and Accounting.doc).

+ Proficiency in accounting software (Oracle Fusion experience preferred) and advanced Excel skills (Source: SG25-TREND 6).

+ Knowledge of auditing best practices and experience coordinating audits.

+ Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, working both independently and as part of a team.

+ Strong analytical skills, with sharp attention to detail.
