The Network Transport Engineer will be responsible for designing, provisioning, and managing network transport circuits to ensure reliable and scalable connectivity across enterprise, data center, and remote locations. We are seeking a highly skilled Network Transport Engineer with expertise in network transports for managing and optimizing at a global scale. This role involves ordering, provisioning, optimizing across many services and circuit types ensuring seamless integration with AIG architecture standards.
Responsibilities
+ Design and provision transport circuits supporting branch, data center and cloud connectivity.
+ Coordinate with telecom providers on circuit ordering, provisioning, activation, and testing.
+ Define and enforce transport network standards, including circuit design best practices, vendor management processes, and redundancy strategies.
+ Track provisioning timelines and validate service activations for compliance with contractual SLAs.
+ Troubleshoot transport-layer issues, including latency, loss, and circuit failures.
+ Manage fiber route diversity and path protection to ensure network robustness and support disaster recovery plans.
+ Maintain accurate transport circuit inventory and documentation of transport infrastructure.
+ Leverage automation tools to streamline provisioning workflows and improve operational efficiency.
+ Collaborate with procurement, carriers, and network architects to optimize network cost and capacity.
+ Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies and best practices for transport networks.
+ Contribute to the refinement of network policies and provide technical expertise to support business and operational requirements.
+ Manage complex activities simultaneously to short timescales.
+ Collaborate with stakeholders to develop consensus, drive results, and execute projects across the organization on time and within budget.
+ Work closely with network architects, senior management and operations teams.
+ Act as an escalation engineer for high severity network related production issues, work with engineers and various vendors to identify tactical and strategic solutions.
+ Recommend network improvements, including cost/benefit analysis, to meet changing business requirements.
Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, or related field, such as Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent experience.
+ 5+ years of proven experience in transport or telecom network engineering.
+ Strong knowledge of circuit provisioning, fiber optics, DWDM, MPLS, and Ethernet services.
+ Experience managing relationships with telecom carriers and vendors.
+ Familiarity with network documentation tools and inventory systems.
+ Proficiency with transport network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
+ Excellent communication, organizational, and project coordination skills.
+ Experience with network automation or scripting is a plus.
+ Experience with network design for global enterprises.
+ Knowledge of industry compliance standards and SLAs.
+ Expertise with disaster recovery planning and transport-layer resiliency.
+ Experience with network management and monitoring platforms.
+ Sharp troubleshooting faculties, deductive reasoning, and careful attention to detail.
+ Independent and self-directed work ethic when participating in a collaborative environment.
+ Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
+ Dedicated commitment to service availability and quality user experience.
+ Must be results driven with a strong sense of urgency.
The base salary range for this position in Jersey City, NJ, is $138 ,000 - $159,000. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
