    Position Description:

    The Software Architect supports the Backend and Frontend Development Leads of an existing defense enterprise reporting platform with an underlying objective of supporting the warfighter. The Software Architect will work closely with the development leads, developers, systems engineers, operations team, and business analysts to design and guide the Agile development and deployment of capabilities and manage the underlying technical stack.

     

    Position can be located within commuting range of Fairfax. Work can be based remotely or on-site with work performed at client sites.

    Your future duties and responsibilities:

    ? Perform high-level design for new capabilities in existing system to include documenting design, as well as educating and directing developers on execution

    ? Coordinate across a multi-functional team to ensure that design is ready, and developers are prepared for sprints

    ? Provide input to user stories and technical tasks by adding technical design and implementation details, as well as technical acceptance criteria

    ? Review developer code for correctness, quality, and maintainability, providing feedback to developers on necessary corrections or more effective/maintainable ways to solve problems

    ? Ensure only quality code is merged into software

    ? Collaborate with DevSecOps team members to identify, implement, and manage tools to simplify developer experience

    ? Assist in release and other configuration management tasks

    ? Assist with identification of technical risks, issues, and opportunities

    ? Triage and remediate development roadblocks

    Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

    Education: Bachelor's degree, 4 Years of additional work experience can be substituted for a bachelor's degree

    8+ years of relevant experience:

    ? Experience with Agile software implementation projects to include experience with application design, providing implementation guidance to development teams, and reviewing code

    ? Experience with developing Java for web applications, Spring framework, including Spring Security and other frameworks such as Hibernate/JPA, and Maven

    ? Self-starter, ability to work independently and effectively prioritize workload to meet deadlines and work objectives

    ? Excellent communication skills working with cross-functional teams in a collaborative and diverse environment

    ? Excellent problem solving and research skills

    ? The ideal candidate will also have experience with:

    ? Build scripts and package managers

    ? Spring Boot, Drools, Flowable, and/or Git

    ? Designing applications that leverage RESTful APIs as a means for data delivery and associated security strategies to protect the data

    ? Leveraging NoSQL document stores such as Elastic(search) and MongoDB

    ? Configure management tools, such as Atlassian Suite, including Jira (or equivalent) for use in Agile issue management, backlogs, and team metrics/reporting, a plus

    Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:

    This position is largely backend focused, however the ideal candidate will be able to flex to support frontend design and implementation as needed

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $88,200.00 - $214,800.00.
