Posting Summary
The University of Vermont is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Financial Assistant to join the University Housing & Dining Services ( UHDS ) business management team. This position plays a key role in supporting the financial and operational functions of UHDS .
Primary responsibilities include financial reporting, revenue and expense coding accuracy, account and credit card reconciliations, and document management. The role also involves coordinating purchasing processes, including requisitions, purchase orders, contracting, and credit card audits. You’ll provide vital support for contract and vendor relationships and assist with inventory tracking of equipment and space.
This position will train and advise staff on compliance with policies and procedures, while proactively identifying opportunities for process improvement and resource efficiency. The role also includes compiling data and preparing reports for various UHDS committees and initiatives, and serving as a liaison to central administrative departments.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Associate’s degree and one to three years of business operations, accounting, financial analysis or other relevant experience. Proficient using productivity software including Microsoft Teams and Office Suite, with intermediate ability in Excel. Working knowledge of software applications to support business operations. Effective communications skills including the ability to create written process documents for the department.Strong planning and organizational skills including the ability to create solid file management & tracking systems; attention to detail with a high level of accuracy; ability to prioritize effectively.Commitment to diversity, social justice, and fostering a collaborative multicultural environment required.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience using PeopleSoft and/or Axiom. Experience working in a higher education setting and familiarity with university policies and procedures desired. Experience designing and conducting training.
Anticipated Pay Range $22-28/hour
Other Information
Special Conditions Bargaining unit position, A probationary period may be required, Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), A probationary period may be required for current UVM employees, Background Check required for this position
