• Experienced Veterinary Assistant

    VCA Animal Hospitals (Fort Worth, TX)


    Support and assist Veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians, and other hospital staff through intermediate-level care of patients, cleaning of facilities and client communication. Complete clearly defined patient treatments, laboratory tests, diagnostic imaging and other animal care functions and tasks involved in the patient care and operations of a veterinary hospital.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

    Essential Responsibility/Task (All based on state practice act and under supervision)

    • Care for patients including obtaining patient parameters, maintaining IV fluids, and handling anxious or fearful patients.

    • Communicate effectively with clients and other Associates (including client education).

    • Complete medical records documentation using proper terminology.

    • Perform laboratory tasks such as collecting samples, running tests, and understanding normal/abnormal limits.

    • Under direction, monitor anesthesia and recovery.

    • Assist with positioning for diagnostic imaging.

    • Fill prescriptions (controlled substances subject to state regulations).

    • Other responsibilities as assigned, such as participating in the development of other Associates and responding to emergencies under direction of a doctor or other designated mentor.
