    *The University of Maryland, Baltimore’s Office of Student Success, Leadership, and Engagement (SSLE) within the Division of Student Affairs (DSA) has an exciting opportunity for a Mentorship Coordinator (Program Coordinator). This is a contractual, grant-funded position and is contingent upon continued funding.* The Mentorship Coordinator is responsible for planning and executing academic support, mentorship and community building, and professional development programs for UMB students via a peer mentorship initiative designed to encourage belonging, retention, and persistence. The individual in this position will develop close partnerships within each of the schools to support existing programs and build upon a recently created and piloted peer mentorship program. The Mentorship Coordinator will ensure that the initiative and service delivery model align with the mission, vision, and goals of the Office of Student Success, Leadership, and Engagement (SSLE) and the Division of Student Affairs (DSA). The individual in this position will apply appropriate theoretical knowledge, concepts, principles, and skills within defined parameters set by their supervisor and/or SSLE and DSA leadership. The Mentorship Coordinator is expected to demonstrate initiative and discretion to resolve routine and non-routine matters while independently managing and administering programs, processes, projects, and/or resources. The Mentorship Coordinator will manage a university-wide peer mentorship initiative, which will include collaborating with various stakeholders to recruit, hire, train, and supervise mentors; recruit and retain mentees; maintain records; and coordinate various learning opportunities. Additionally, the individual in this position will utilize independent judgment, discretion, creativity, and analytical thinking to provide program support for marketing, program goal development, program evaluation and assessment, budget oversight, collaboration with divisional and campus partners, the management and facilitation of professional development opportunities, and ensure legal and policy compliance. All efforts will advance strategic themes outlined in the UMB Strategic Plan and the goals outlined in the Division of Student Affair’s strategic plan. This position will report directly to the Assistant Director of the Intercultural Center in the Office of Student Success, Leadership, and Engagement within the Division of Student Affairs. The Coordinator will be accountable to, and supported by, the UMB principal investigator of this grant. *Benefits Information* UMB offers acomprehensive benefits packagethat prioritizes wellness, work/life balance, and professional development. All employees are expected to work primarily physically within the State of Maryland.* *Primary Duties* * Coordinate activities and functions of the mentorship initiative, including professional development and community building opportunities to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with established priorities, deadlines, funding models, and other specifications. * Coordinate day-to-day activities of the program with interrelated activities of other programs, departments, or staff to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures and specifications. * Liaise with the grant funder to ensure compliance with all requirements, including preparing reports, managing data collection, keeping records of program activities, progress, status, and outcomes. * Recruit program participants, including the recruitment, training, and supervision of student mentors, as well as the recruitment and retention of student mentees. * Coordinate and assist in the implementation of necessary trainings and strategies to prepare student mentors to effectively support their peers and connect them with UMB, local, and national resources. * Coordinate mentorship initiative logistics and assist in the implementation of educational programs, workshops, and trainings. * Build and maintain strong relationships with community members and partners, such as student organizations, student affairs practitioners, and access and accountability professionals in order to increase knowledge and participation in mentorship initiative. * Work independently and collaborate with campus partners to develop, support, and promote robust professional development and community engagement programming, including but not limited to activities for National First-Generation Celebration Week. * Research, benchmark, and assess other campuses’ educational and support programs designed to encourage community building, persistence, and retention. * Assist in the preparation and assessment of the assigned budget and adhere to all division, university, and funder finance and budget policies and procedures. * Perform additional administrative duties that advance the mission of the Office of Student Success, Leadership, and Engagement and the Division of Student Affairs. * Assist in the discovery of opportunities and preparation of proposals for funding and/or funding continuation from outside sponsors. * Schedule, market, and promote events of the program by independently developing promotional marketing materials and event plans in adherence with department, division, and university policies, procedures, and practices. * Coordinate, monitor, and supervise the activities of students and volunteers. * Perform other related duties as assigned. *Education:*Bachelor's degree. *Experience:*One (1) year administrative or program coordination experience. *Other:*Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year of related experience. In instances where specific education and/or experience is required only directly related education and/or experience may be substituted. *Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities* Knowledge of position requirements. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently.
