    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Director of Residential Services is responsible for the general oversight of all Community Living Arrangements (CLA) and Continuous Residential Support (CRS). This includes supporting managers with clinical coordination of client service, adherence to licensing regulations (DDS, DSS, DCF, etc.), and person-centered programmatic development. He/ She will provide supervision and training to assigned staff.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    + Provides leadership and general oversight for all Community Living Arrangements (CLA), Continuous Residential Support (CRS) and wraparound day service programs.

    + Monitors all clinical services to ensure that residents’ needs are being met.

    + Assists Residential Managers to implement clinical recommendations, including in-servicing staff.

    + Arranges and, if appropriate, provides educational groups for residents.

    + Works collaboratively with DCF (Department of Children and Families), DDS (Department of Developmental Services), school systems and other providers.

    + Provides crisis intervention, clinical support to CLA residents, managers and staff.

    + Facilitate the intake and discharge of residents, including the assessment of potential residents.

    + Ensure confidentiality as required by law and The Arc and DDS policies and procedures which includes keeping records, conversations, correspondence (regarding program participants and staff) confidential.

    + Perform QSR reviews on all CLA and CRS to ensure DDS licensing regulations and agency policy is in compliance.

    + Participates in Residential Department on call rotation as needed.

    EXPECTATIONS:

    + Demonstrates a positive work ethic.

    + Advocates for and protect participants’ rights in accordance with The Arc ECT policies and procedures.

    + Supports all people in an age-appropriate manner, with respect and dignity, and encourages opportunities that promote choice.

    + Maintains a professional and positive attitude when dealing with program participants, staff, families, the public and outside representatives.

    + Works with a spirit of cooperation with all departments.

    + Carries out all job responsibilities in a professional manner.

    + Attends all agency staff meetings and training sessions.

    + Maintains attendance. Adheres to policies on attendance, days of absence, and illness.

    + Keeps supervisor informed of any significant events or the need to modify any area of the operation/activity.

    + Serves as a positive and appropriate role model for staff and residents.

    + Provides advocacy for residents based on their personal choice and their individual plan.

    + Develops and maintains positive relationships with participants, their families, and providers.

    + Responds to need of participants, families, and providers in a timely and professional manner.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Bachelor’s degree preferred. High School Diploma or GED required.

    + Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the field of human services; 2 years supervisory experience. Experience with licensing regulations preferred. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred. Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and training is acceptable.

    + He/ She must maintain a valid driver’s license and insurance on personal vehicle during period of employment.

    REQUIRED TRAINING:

    + Will participate in all DDS and The Arc Eastern Connecticut trainings as required by policy.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    + Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Will be required to participate in lifts, transfers, and behavioral or physical intervention during unusual or emergency situations. May be exposed to risk of injury or exposure to occupational health hazards.
