    Department Summary

    Position Summary

    The Postdoctoral Scholar will be responsible for immunoengineering research and administrative activities related to the launch of the Biomaterial Research for Immunomodulation, Drug delivery, and Genetic Engineering (BRIDGE) lab in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Oregon. An applicant with expertise in biomaterials chemistry and/or immunology will have the opportunity for training across these disciplines through projects bridging physical and immunological barriers to drug delivery.

     

    Candidates with synthetic expertise are expected to lead projects connecting high throughput synthesis of nucleic acid delivery materials with nanoparticle structure/function characterization. AND/OR

     

    Candidates with immunological expertise are expected to lead projects connecting innate responses to mucosal nucleic acid delivery with tissue-resident adaptive immunity, with opportunities to work across murine and human models.

     

    Beyond research, the scholar will actively participate in student mentorship and assist the principal investigator in the physical and administrative set-up of the laboratory (especially during the initial phases of the appointment).

    Minimum Requirements

    • Ph.D in Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Immunology, or another relevant field

    • Laboratory experience in drug delivery, synthetic organic chemistry, and/or immunology

    Professional Competencies

    • Strong communication skills

    • History of and dedication to mentorship and teamwork

    • Demonstrated record of impactful scientific publications

    • Self-identification as an immunoengineer dedicated to globally equitable access to healthcare

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Biomaterials expertise, especially related to nucleic acid delivery through polymer or lipid synthesis

    • Experience in murine and human immunological research, especially innate immunology
