    The anticipated salary range for this role is between $88,000.00 and $105,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

    Role Description

    SMBC Capital Markets is a derivatives trading company since 1988 based in New York City, with offices in London and Hong Kong. SMBC CM is an established derivatives dealer with a broad product portfolio, with specific emphasis on interest rates and foreign exchange. The candidate will build and maintain a variety of software applications, tools, or functions to support our business. The role will interact with the larger development team, share design and solutions, and contribute to the overall objectives of the development team.

    Role Objectives

    + This role will be part of the system development team and will involve maintaining and enhancing existing in-house applications and services used for financial data processing.

    + Work on projects dedicated to modernization of legacy system and will require ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.

    + Supporting the trading system, including providing answers to user’s enquiries or resolving batch job issues.

    + The role will be part of the SMBC CM development team. The candidate will need to follow SMBC CM development standards and contribute to the overall agenda of the team.

    Qualifications and Skills

    + Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and design in C# and modern .NET framework

    + Knowledge of any of the following C/C++/C#/Python/JavaScript/React is a big plus

    + Familiarity with database and distributed systems concepts is a plus

    + Familiarity with multithreading and asynchronous programming is a plus

    + Must have the ability to understand and implement complex program designs

    + Must be a good team player who can work cooperatively or independently

    + Quick learner and problem solver
