    Adirondack Academy has an anticipated vacancy for a building principal to lead the program. Adirondack Academy (ADK) is an alternative education program designed to support students in grades 9-12 who have experienced challenges and barriers in their home school district. ADK emphasizes small class sizes and close relationships with teachers, staff, and administrators to build a sense of community.

    Minimum requirements:

    + NYS School Building Leader or School Administrator and Supervisor certificate.

    + Experience with instructional technology, project-based learning, and restorative practices

    + Able to establish and maintain positive interactions with the business community and local colleges.

    + Strong written and oral communication skills.

    + Able to strengthen and support an innovative instructional program while maintaining high expectations for academic success and professional behaviors.

    Job Qualifications

    NYS certification as a School Building Leader (SBL) or School District Administrator (SDL) is required.

     

    TEACH Clearance

     

    Per the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, to be employed in a position designated by a school district or BOCES as involving direct contact with students, a clearance for employment from the State Education Department is required. Formal job offer/selection is contingent on the ability to obtain a fingerprint security clearance through the TEACH system prior to working.
