Minimum Qualifications
Eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
NOTE:
This is a temporary position to be utilized while the incumbent is securing a Louisiana Engineer Intern certificate. Permanent status shall be denied to incumbents occupying this position.
NOTE:
Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificates are issued by the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board. Licensing requirements may be viewed at www.lapels.com.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
The office work requires the reviewing of project plans before and during construction. Review and verify all plan dimensions, vertical and horizontal controls and verify the location of structures such as bridges, roadways and drainage. Check project quantities, correct any errors and furnish calculations for adjustment. Meet with utility representatives; attend preconstruction projects and partnering conference, monitor monthly CPM schedules and attend project progress meetings. Compose change orders and distribute upon execution. Supervise the timely generation of monthly estimates for pay. Performs project data management by overseeing timely documentation of all construction activities in field books, in project diaries, Headlight & Sitemanager Daily Work Reports. Prepares time and material documentation for force account work. Reviews partial and final estimate pay quantities for possible discrepancies. Prepares computation folders to be turned in with final estimates. Conducts preliminary construction site inspections. Reviews sampling plan for completeness . The field work requires the supervision of a project under construction. Assign inspection duties to inspectors, coordinate inspections with contractor personnel. Supervise and coordinate all sampling and testing to insure the quality and quantity of materials meets the standards specified in the plans and contract and prepare the 2059. Prepare monthly estimates for pay. Prepare and supervise the preparation of field books. Performs any other duties assigned by Supervisors. Performs any assigned duties during Emergency/Disaster Operations assigned by Supervisors. The employee must possess and maintain a current professional license to practice Engineering in the State of Louisiana.

Compensation:
Engineer Intern Applicant -$24.04/hourly- Eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
Engineer Intern 1 - Special Entrance Rate (SER) $26.44/hourly. Possession of a current Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
Engineer Intern 2 - Special Entrance Rate (SER) $28.29/ hourly. Possession of a current Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate plus one year of professional engineering experience.
Engineer 3 - Special Entrance Rate (SER) $33.39/hourly. Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering.
Engineer 4 - Special Entrance Rate (SER) $36.90/hourly. Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering plus One year of licensed engineering experience OR Five years of professional engineering experience.
Engineer 5 - Special Entrance Rate (SER) $39.48/hourly. Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering plusTwo years of licensed engineering experience OR Six years of professional engineering experience.
For recruitment purposes, applicants who are within 90 days of graduating with a bachelor’s degree may be eligible for this position; however, the effective date of the appointment cannot be prior to your graduation date.
