This Mobile Equipment Operator position operates a variety of heavy equipment for the purposes of road/bridge construction and maintenance primarily for Calcasieu Parish in District 07, Unit 510 of the DOTD and reports directly to Highway Foreman 1.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

As Mobile Equipment Operator, you'll help create a positive first impression for every person who walks through our doors or see on the roadways. In this role, you will operate the following heavy equipment, as needed:

+ Asphalt Distributor (truck mounted)

+ Backhoes

+ Front end loaders

+ Bucket/ladder trucks

+ Cranes/draglines (lifting capacity >20,000 lbs but <40,000 lbs

+ Dozers (<140 HP)

+ Dump truck (tandem axle or trailer dump)

+ Gradalls

+ Hot mix pavers (<40 HP)

+ Motor Grader

+ Lowboys

+ Milling machines (<90 HP)

+ Road planer

+ Road widener (<90 HP)

+ Sewer Cleaners (truck mounted)

+ Striping machines

+ Sweepers

+ Track hoes (excavators)

+ Under bridge inspection units (trailer mounted

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional

Work Schedule:Work hours are 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Thursday

Compensation:

MOBILE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR 1 -- Class D, Chauffeurs License will be required upon appointment. Starting salary for MEO-1 is $16.06/hourly; this job title receives Premium Pay in the amount of $1.00/hour for all hours worked. Additionally, a 10% base pay increase will be granted upon attainment of permanent status.

MOBILE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR 2 -- Class A, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) will be required upon appointment. Starting salary for MEO-2 is $17.18/hourly; this job title receives Premium Pay in the amount of $1.00/hour for all hours worked. Additionally, a 10% base pay increase will be granted upon attainment of permanent status.

MOBILE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR 1/HEAVY -- Class A, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) will be required upon appointment. Starting salary for MEO-1/HEAVY is $21.05/hourly.
