    What We Are Seeking:

    The Iowa Department of Public Defense (DPD) is recruiting to fill anAdministrative Assistant 1position that will need to be very experienced in computer systems, state and military operation, as well as possess a drive to dig into programs and learn on the fly.

     

    Location and hours: 185th Air Refueling Wing, 2920 Headquarters Avenue, Sioux City, IA 51111. 40 hours work week, flexible schedule. Occasional travel on a quarterly basis and for training.

    Our Agency directly supports the Iowa National Guard sustainment, readiness and modernization, providing support so they are able to fulfill their missions in Iowa’s communities or their work for the State during emergencies or times of need.     What You’ll Do:

    + Manage monthly reports, file and update spreadsheets/charts. Perform moderate to considerable scope and diverse complex work as required

    + Serves as POC and tracking of multiple state and AF systems. Schedule meetings/appointments for CES and other Wing personnel. Relays pertinent information to customers by phone, email, face to face, or by routine correspondence.

    + Prepares memorandums for general correspondence with other Squadron groups, Wing, Army, ANG and NGB units

    + Other duties as assigned: attend meetings, provide regular updates, complete reports, and other duties as deemed necessary.

    Special Requirements:

    Must be able to pass a federal background check to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Common Access Card.

    Minimum Qualification Requirements

    Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

    + Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in any field.

    + A total of four years of education (as described in number one) and/or full-time experience in accounting, secretarial, or office support work collecting, compiling, reporting, examining and/or editing numerical data; coding and qualifying people for benefits, licenses, or other transactions; preparing and keeping budgetary accounts and projections; organizing and implementing office support operations; advising on procedural processes; or other work that provided direct support and exposure to substantive agency programs, where one year of full-time experience is equal to 30 semester hours of education.

    + Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to 12 months of full-time work as a Secretary 2, Clerk Specialist, Public Service Supervisor, Accounting Technician (any level), Purchasing Assistant, or Human Resources Technical Assistant
