    The Project Controls Cost Specialist will be responsible for providing cost engineering services for projects being managed within the Engineering Department. Projects consist of revamps, new units, infrastructure projects, new buildings and are >$25MM. The successful candidate provides project management with forward looking information identifying expected project performance and comparisons against performance targets as well as relevant input and analysis to facilitate timely decision making. Ensure construction control estimates are aligned with the definition phase budget used for sanctioning prior to commencing execution. Manage changes to the project budget. Coordinate continuous interface with Engineering, Maintenance, Accounting, and Project Team personnel.

    Responsibilities Include:

    + Participate with the project team in the development of the plan for the project establishing the WBS

    + Work with outside engineering firms to ensure project cost control expectations and deliverables are met via facilitating project controls workshop, and participating in project meetings

    + Review of cost estimates for projects and development of the control budget from these estimates and phase decision support package

    + Work with the project team to establish planned cash flow deliverables expectations

    + Ensure the construction control budget and cash flow is aligned with planned schedule and cost estimate at project sanctioning

    + Performs project set up and management of work orders and forecasts in Marathon’s Integrated Project System (IPS)

    + Review budget proposals for accuracy in cost and schedule

    + Monitor and report project costs and perform analysis regarding deviations from the definition phase or control budget

    + Submit monthly accruals, for services, Progress Payment POs, and equipment/major materials to Accounting

    + Develop realistic forecasts of the overall cost based on project schedule

    + Facilitate and participate in risk assessments, peer reviews, IPA benchmarking, and audits

    + Facilitate and lead the development and review of the monthly project status report (PSR) with local and corporate leadership

    + Evaluate project risks and communicate cost and/or schedule exposure to project management

    + Facilitate the project closeout process including material cleanup with warehouse

    + Up to 15% travel may be required for EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) firm interface.

    Experience:

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management preferred

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Finance or Accounting accepted

    + Minimum of 7 years of experience in project controls / cost control for major capital projects

    + Applicable experience with industrial EPC projects and Front-End engineering preferred

    + Experience during field implementation of mid-cap or major EPC projects a plus

    + Excellent communication skills

    + Ability to optimize workflows and promote efficiency

    + Proficient in Microsoft Office products – Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook

    + Experience with SAP and Power BI preferred

    + P6, Prometheus, Netpoint, Acumen Fuse, or Icarus software is a plus
